Amazing Light Show! Recently, people right here in Kentucky were treated to a special light show usually only displayed in certain parts of the world. The headline from NBC read, “Stunning display of Northern light seen around the world.” While too tired to stay awake to see personally, I enjoyed seeing pictures from those who did.
Similarly, last month some in Guatemala gathered to watch the Volcan del Fuego erupt at night. While watching, it first appeared that lightning struck the volcano. Later it was confirmed the volcano produced enough static electricity while erupting that it created its own amazing lightning light show. In Acts 1:9-11, as some were listening to Jesus, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. While they were gazing into heaven, two men in white robes said, “why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, …, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
Even though you might have been asleep or not in the right location to see one of the two recent amazing sights, there is a special light show that you will not be able to miss. Revelation 1:7 says, “Behold he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him,” Matthew 16:27 tells us He will “come with his angels in the glory of his Father.” I Thessalonians 4:16 says he will descend “with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God.”
What should we do then? “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Matthew 24:44 Are you ready?
