A Busy & Blessed Church

A Busy & Blessed Church

This summer, our church calendar has been packed with numerous events and activities for our church family. These events have provided countless opportunities for us to gather, fellowship, encourage one another, and grow closer together. There have been events for young people, college students, families, and individuals. It has certainly been a busy time, with what feels like something every week to attend or participate in. While busyness can lead to burnout if not balanced properly, it’s important to reflect on how blessed we are to be part of a congregation that is active in so many great things to God’s glory. No one can do it all, and no one is expected to. But the more we make ourselves available to do what we can for God and with His people, the stronger we will be spiritually. As you consider the announcements and look over the church calendar, here are a few reminders that show how being part of a busy church is truly a blessing:

  • Opportunities to Serve (Mark 10:43–45) Jesus taught that true greatness is found in service. Every event, whether large or small, offers a real chance to serve one another. Whether we share a meal, enjoy a meaningful conversation, or meet a need, we are practicing what Jesus says should be true of us as His disciples. These gatherings allow us to perfect the spiritual art of putting others before ourselves and leaning into loving each other through sacrificial service (1 Cor.10:24; Phil. 2:1–5).
  • Occasions to Get to Know Each Other (Psalm 16:3) With more than 300 members, it’s impossible to know everyone equally well. But events give us the opportunity to hold conversations we might not otherwise have. Ask someone how they became a Christian or what brought them to this congregation. Purposefully talk to someone new, and you’ll be blessed by what you learn.
  • Open Doors for Evangelism (Acts 10:24) When we invite non-Christian friends and family to events, we create natural opportunities for evangelism. Even if we don’t open the Bible with them right away, the way we live and interact can reflect the gospel. Our harmony and love can draw them to Jesus and prepare hearts for deeper conversations (2 Cor. 3:2).
  • Obvious Love for Jesus (1 John 4:19) Your attendance, involvement, and time show your love for Jesus. People who love Jesus love His people (Matt. 12:30), and they prioritize His church (Matt. 6:33). Thank you for being that kind of church! Your dedication is a blessing to us all (Phil. 1:3–4).

A busy church is a blessed church. Let’s not grow weary in doing well—our reward is coming (Gal. 6:9)!
