Opportunity is a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. It is an event or moment at which actions of importance or significance can be achieved, a critical or decisive moment in time, a period marked by distinct conditions.
Opportunity in the bible is mentioned as a season. Times of opportunities must be discerned. Solomon writes in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.” We as Christians should take every possible opportunity to do good, to share Christ and His love for each of us. Gal 6:10 says, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Ephesians 5:15-16 reads, “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Paul told Timothy to “preach the word” (2Tim 4:2).
Please let me commend you on your recent efforts in reaching out to others, inviting your friends, setting up Bible studies, praying for and serving others. It is heartwarming and exciting to see God working through each of you. The Bible gives us many examples of God’s people seizing the opportunities that God gave them, for example Esther, David, Priscilla and Aquila, Daniel, Nehemiah and the list could go on and on. It’s easy to see opportunities in hindsight and not so easy in the moment. We must watch and pray for God to gives us a eye and heart to seize every opportunity that we have.
Opportunity is knocking and the fields are white unto harvest. VBS is our next opportunity I hope we see each other with our families and friends at VBS. VBS is not just for Kids! It’s an opportunity to share Christ.
